Power crisis in Kuwait in summer 2010

From Kuwait Times, Kuwait will be suffering from less electricity because of increasing consumption and the failure to complete essential production capacity increasing projects on time, according to Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) official. They say that there will be no power problems in 2009 because the current production levels are sufficient for requirements, with an additional 720 megawatts to be added to the current 10,120 megawatt capacity in June this year.
The problem will begin in the year 2010 because of continuing delays in the completion of the 2,000-megawatt Subiya power station in combination with a projected population increase and the building of new towns across the country.
The Electricity and Water Minister, Nabil Bin Salamah, held a meeting with senior ministry staff earlier this week to discuss these issues and attempt to formulate solutions.

I hope not .. If they did finish the projects, nothing of this would happen.

If they're depending on the projects being done on time, then I guess we're really going to suffer in 2010, because in Kuwait and as we're getting very used to projects are always delayed and never done on time.

you are right in this point!
like "Silk City", "Failka" and "Burj Mubarak".

We know that we are in a bad situation specialy now because of the economic crisis, but they should do what is important to Kuwait while this cris is still ahead, not by giving money to other countries, after that they would say "oh .. we don't have much money to waste on building electricity stations".

We should put KUWAIT as first not second !

That's one of the many reasons why Kuwait is not fit for investment themes and stuff, because Kuwaiti money is not being spent on Kuwait itself, it's being spent on other countries and not that important stuff !

Its a good thing to share and give money to other countries, but not in the way that Kuwait does! we should face the economic crisis but instead of that Kuwait spoil the money on other countries ..

I hope they understand this point and think about the future of the country.

Look at Dubai know, they did face a major economy cris last few weeks and what did they do ? .. did they spend their money on other countries ? .. of course not! .. they kept the money for the country because they were in need for it and all the banks collaborated to become one force against this cris and they win!

This is a very good lesson to learn from it.
